The background-removal engine is built and tested. The editor around it is still being built, so the app is not usable yet.
What it does
Three models
Fast for quick jobs, Quality for fine detail, and Portrait for people. The browser caches each model after its first load.
Refine the edge (planned)
A brush and soft-edge controls for hair and other fine edges. Not built yet.
Replace the background (planned)
Transparent, a colour, a blur or another image, with an optional shadow. Not built yet.
Batch (planned)
Work through a queue of images and export them one after another. Not built yet.

Background Remover column: "Yes" means the feature is in the app now. "Engine ready", "Engine only", "Planned" and "Not yet" describe work that is not finished in the app.
Privacy
The engine processes images on your device, with models that ship with the site. The finished app is designed the same way: nothing is uploaded and there are no accounts. No tracking runs unless the owner has turned it on in Settings.
What it cannot do yet
- The app does not work yet: its page loads scripts that are not written. Use the link above only to follow progress.
- Not built yet: the refine brush, background replacement, export, batch processing, menus, and Files integration.
- The GPU path (WebGPU) has not been tested on real graphics cards. The CPU path is used when no suitable GPU is found.
- The Quality model is slow on large images. In tests it took 45 to 70 seconds for a 1024-pixel image on a busy machine.
- No Image Editor integration yet. A Remove background command is planned.
