The best free QR code generators

A static QR code holds your link or text itself, so it works for as long as the link does. These four generators all make static codes for free; they differ in design options, downloads and what needs an account.

We make QR Code Generator, one of the tools on this page. Every fact about the other tools comes from their own pages, linked under each one, as they read on 2026-10-24. Prices and features change: check each site before you choose.

How we compared them

  • Static codes free, for commercial use, that never expire
  • No sign-up for the downloads that matter: PNG and a vector (SVG, PDF or EPS)
  • Design: logo, colours and shapes, with codes that still scan
  • Content types such as Wi-Fi and contact cards, and batches

1. QR Code Generator (ours)

Best for: Codes made entirely in your browser, including Wi-Fi passwords, with a logo, SVG and free batches.

Good

  • The code is made in your browser: a Wi-Fi password or contact never leaves your device
  • Text, links, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi, vCard, location and calendar events
  • Logo in the middle with error correction set to H; colours, gradient and transparent background
  • Batch: one code per line, free
  • Works on your phone, tablet and computer in the browser, even offline

Not so good

  • Still being built
  • No dynamic codes and no scan statistics
  • Square or rounded modules only; no EPS download

  • Logo, colours, gradients and custom body, eye frame and eye ball shapes
  • PNG, SVG, PDF and EPS downloads; resolution slider
  • Says it does not save or reuse your data

3. goQR.me

Best for: Plain codes in every common file format, with no sign-up and an API.

Good

  • Free for commercial use, without registration
  • Six download formats, including SVG, EPS and PDF
  • Says it does not analyse the codes made on its site
  • Has an API

Not so good

  • Design is limited to foreground and background colours; a logo is by contacting them

4. QR Code Generator

Best for: Businesses that want dynamic, editable codes with scan tracking and are ready to pay for them.

Good

  • Dynamic codes you can edit later, with scan statistics, on paid plans
  • Colours and frames on free static codes
  • Bulk creation and API on higher plans
  • Part of Bitly

Not so good

  • Free download is JPG; PNG, SVG and EPS need an account, and EPS is black and white
  • A logo needs PRO
  • Plan prices did not show on its pricing page when we checked

Which one to choose

QR Code Generator is our pick, above all when the content is private, such as a Wi-Fi password, because the code is drawn in your browser. It adds a logo, colours and SVG for free, and does free batches; it is still being built and has fewer shapes.

Choose QR Code Monkey if you need the most design options: gradients, custom dot and eye shapes, and EPS. Choose goQR.me for plain codes in every common file format and an API. Choose QR Code Generator only if you need dynamic codes and tracking, which cost money everywhere on this page.

Questions

Do free QR codes expire?

Static codes do not: QR Code Monkey, goQR.me and QR Code Generator all say so, and a QR Code Generator code holds your data directly with no redirect service. Dynamic codes depend on a paid service staying active.

Which free generator lets me add a logo?

QR Code Monkey and QR Code Generator, for free. goQR.me does logos by request, and QR Code Generator needs PRO for a logo.

Can I download a vector file without signing up?

Yes with QR Code Monkey (SVG, PDF, EPS), goQR.me (SVG, EPS, PDF) and QR Code Generator (SVG, PDF). QR Code Generator needs an account for SVG and EPS.

Can I track how often my code is scanned?

Only with a dynamic code, which is a paid feature at QR Code Monkey PRO, goQR.me's QR-Server and QR Code Generator. QR Code Generator makes static codes only.
