DOCX to Markdown converter

Move a Word document into a README, a wiki or a static site: get Markdown that keeps the structure and drops the formatting noise.

Accepts

Word documents (.docx). Other file types are not converted on this page; the File Converter hub takes every kind it knows.

How to convert

  1. Drop a .docx file. Headings become # lines, lists keep their nesting, links become [text](address) and tables become pipe tables.
  2. Underline, colours, fonts and pictures are left out: standard Markdown has no way to say them.

Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and the file is never sent to PartPriced Tools or to any other server.

Questions

Which Markdown flavour?

CommonMark with GitHub tables and ~~strikethrough~~. Characters that Markdown would read as formatting are escaped with a backslash.

What about old .doc and .ppt files?

Those older binary formats are not read here. Save them as .docx or .pptx in Word, PowerPoint or LibreOffice first.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, on this device. Your files are not sent to PartPriced Tools or to any other server.
