Print labels from an Excel or CSV file

Address labels for a mailing, price labels for a shop, asset tags for an office: put the data in a spreadsheet and Label Designer makes one label per row, with text and barcodes filled in from your columns.

Merge labels from a spreadsheet

How to do it

  1. Pick a label stock in Label setup, such as Avery 5160 or L7160, a thermal roll, or a custom size.
  2. Choose Data > Import CSV / Excel / JSON… and pick your .xlsx or .csv file, or paste rows with Paste data….
  3. Add text and barcodes, and put a column in with { } Insert field, which writes {Column name}.
  4. Step through the rows with Previous record and Next record to check them.
  5. Choose Print… and print every record, or save them as a PDF.

A quantity column can set how many copies of each record to print. Counters, dates and simple formulas are available as variables, and filters such as {Name|upper} change a value as it is printed.

Your files stay on this device: Label Designer runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

Which spreadsheet files work?

Excel .xlsx (the first sheet), CSV, TSV and JSON. Old .xls files are not read: save them as .xlsx or CSV first.

How do I put a column on the label?

Use { } Insert field in Properties, or type the column name in single braces, like {Name}. The first row of the file holds the column names.

Can the barcode come from the data?

Yes. Put a field in a barcode, for example {EAN} in an EAN-13. Check digits are added or checked for you.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The spreadsheet is read in your browser and stays on this device.
