Add text to a video

Drop a title, a caption or a lower third onto your video, style it with a font, colour, outline, box and shadow, and give it an entrance and an exit.

Open Video Editor

How to do it

  1. Open Video Editor and drop your video on the page.
  2. Open the Effects tab and pick a title: Headline, Lower third, Caption, Subtitle, Typewriter, Handwritten or Outline.
  3. Click it to add it at the playhead, or drag it onto the timeline above your video.
  4. In the Inspector, under Text, type your words and set the font, size, colour, outline, box, alignment and animation.
  5. Drag the title's ends on the timeline to set how long it shows, then press Export.

Your files stay on this device: Video Editor runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

Which fonts can I use?

The standard fonts, plus the families in the font picker, which loads a family when you pick it.

Can the text animate?

Yes. Each title has an entrance and an exit, such as a fade, slide up, shrink or blur out, and keyframes can move, scale, rotate or fade it.

Can it write subtitles from the speech?

Not in Video Editor. Transcription makes an SRT subtitle file from the speech in a video, on your device.
