Compare · free, in your browser
Compare two texts and see what changed
Two versions of a contract, an essay or a piece of code: paste them side by side and Compare marks every change, down to the word.
How to do it
- Paste or type the original text in A, and the changed text in B. You can also drop a file on each side.
- Choose Compare. Removed lines are red, added lines green, and the words that changed inside a line are marked darker.
- Use Next and Previous (or F7 and Shift+F7) to go from one change to the next.
- Switch between Side by side and Unified in the panel, and tick Ignore whitespace or Ignore case when those do not matter.
- Choose Export to download the report as HTML or PDF, or a .patch of the change.
Your files stay on this device: Compare runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Is anything uploaded?
No. Both files are read by the page in your browser and never leave your device.
Can it compare code?
Yes. JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL and other text files compare line by line, and a .patch is written as diff -u and git diff write it.
How long can the texts be?
Files up to 30 MB of text. Very different long files are compared in one block, so the result stays quick.
Are unchanged parts shown?
Three lines around each change; longer unchanged runs fold into one line you can click to open.
