Compare two JSON or CSV files

A text diff of data files is noisy: keys move, rows change order. Compare compares the data itself, so only real changes show.

Compare JSON or CSV

How to do it

  1. Drop the two .json or .csv files on the page, or paste the JSON into A and B.
  2. JSON: each difference is listed by its path, such as $.items[id=7].price, as added, removed or changed with both values.
  3. Lists of records with an id, key, sku or name are matched by it, so a reordered list is not a change.
  4. CSV: rows are matched on a key column found by itself (id, sku, email…), or the one you type in CSV key column. Changed cells show the old and new value.
  5. Choose Compare as: Text in the panel to see the files line by line instead.

Your files stay on this device: Compare runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

Is anything uploaded?

No. Both files are read by the page in your browser and never leave your device.

Does the order of keys matter?

No. Two JSON objects with the same keys and values in another order are the same.

What if my CSV has no key column?

Type none in CSV key column: the rows are then lined up in order, and a changed row is shown as one change.

Does it read TSV and semicolon files?

Yes. The separator (comma, semicolon, tab or bar) is found from the first line.
