Keep track of bills to pay

Not every expense is paid on the day. Record a bill as owed with its due date, and Expenses keeps it in the To pay list until you mark it paid.

Record a bill

How to do it

  1. Choose New expense and fill in the supplier, category and amount.
  2. Tick Not paid yet: a bill to pay, and set the Due date.
  3. Choose Record expense. The bill is in your books as owed to the supplier.
  4. Filter the list by To pay to see what is still owed.
  5. When you pay, choose Mark as paid… with the date and how you paid.

Your files stay on this device: Expenses runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.

Questions

Does it remind me before the due date?

No reminders are sent. The To pay filter lists every open bill with its due date, so check it when you do your payments.

Can a bank statement mark a bill as paid?

Yes. In the Bank tab of Ledger, money out that equals a bill owed can be recorded as its payment.

What about bills from purchase orders?

Record bill… on a purchase order in Purchase Orders records the supplier bill here as an expense too.
