Make a balance sheet
Next to the profit and loss, the Statements tab shows a balance sheet at the end of the period: what the business owns, what it owes, and the equity, checked to balance.
How to do it
- Keep your books in Ledger: invoices, payments and expenses post themselves, other entries go in the Journal.
- Open the Statements tab and choose the Period. The balance sheet is at its last day.
- Read Assets, Liabilities and Equity. Everything earned and spent so far shows as Result to date.
- Check that it balances, then Print… or Download CSV.
Your files stay on this device: Ledger runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Why is there a Result to date line?
The books are never closed into equity here, so the profit or loss so far is shown on its own line under equity. The sheet balances with it.
What if it does not balance?
Every posted entry must balance, so the sheet should. If it does not, the page says so; check the trial balance tab for the account that is off.
Can I add my own accounts?
Yes. In the Accounts tab add an account with a four-digit code, a name and a type (asset, liability, equity, revenue or expense).
